HC Deb 27 May 1946 vol 423 cc822-3
52. Mr. Cocks

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster how many Nazis have been removed from office in the British zone in Germany; how many have been interned; and how many are awaiting trial.

Mr. R. J. Taylor

Roughly 102,000 have been removed from office and 57,000 excluded from holding office. Forty-five thousand are interned awaiting trial.

Mr. Cocks

In view of the reported recrudescence of Nazi activity in the British zone, is the Minister satisfied that everything is being done to remove Nazi influence from his sphere of activities?

Mr. Taylor

Yes, Sir.
