HC Deb 27 May 1946 vol 423 c802
5. Mr. Peter Thorneycroft

asked the Minister of Supply whether his attention has been drawn to the difficulty at present experienced by those engaged in atomic research in obtaining the necessary equipment for their task; and if he will take the necessary steps to make this equipment available.

Mr. Wilmot

There are no serious difficulties in the provision of this equipment, but if the hon. Member has any contrary information and will let me have particulars I will be glad to look into it.

Mr. Thorneycroft

Was the right hon. Gentleman's attention called to the statement of eminent scientists engaged in this type of research who said it was almost impossible to get the equipment necessary and that, when it was available, the prices charged were wholly exorbitant?

Mr. Wilmot

We are discussing the situation with them.
