HC Deb 22 May 1946 vol 423 c335
69. Mr. Erroll

asked the Minister of Food when the price of imported leeks will be controlled; and at what price per hundredweight.

Sir B. Smith

The question of controlling the price of imported leeks is under consideration, and I hope to make an announcement soon.

Mr. Erroll

Does the Minister realise that at present imported Dutch leeks are being sold in this country at 74s. 6d. per cwt. whereas home grown leeks are sold at the controlled price of 26s. 3d. per cwt. and is this fair?

Sir B. Smith

My information is that there are no home grown leeks on the market at this moment.
