HC Deb 22 May 1946 vol 423 cc319-20
33. Mr. Emrys Roberts

asked the Attorney-General whether it is the intention of His Majesty's Government to introduce the Crown Proceedings Bill in order to place action between the subject and the Crown on the same basis as action between subject and subject.

The Attorney-General (Sir Hartley Shaweross)

It is the intention of His Majesty's Government to introduce legislation dealing with this matter as soon as circumstances permit, but consideration of the actual draft Bill to which the hon. Member refers has shown that various alterations will be necessary. I can hold out no hope that a Bill will be introduced this Session, but an appropriate Measure will be prepared as soon as pressure of other more urgent matters makes it possible.
