HC Deb 20 May 1946 vol 423 c30
62. Mr. Gibson

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether in view of the recent increase in wages to women employed in agriculture, he will consider taking steps to raise the payments to members of the W.L.A. in view of the services they are giving to the country and as a means of attracting more young women to it.

Mr. T. Williams

The proposal of the Agricultural Wages Board to increase women's wages applies to W.L.A. members in the same way as to other women workers in agriculture.

69. Mr. Hurd

asked the Minister of Agriculture the number of recruits enrolled in the W.L.A. as a result of the April recruiting campaign.

Mr. T. Williams

New enrolments in the Women's Land Army between the beginning of April and 18th May numbered 3,322.
