The figures in the last column are of beds in institutions administered by the County Council, but the Council has arrangements for the admission of Middlesex cases to beds in other institutions also, to such extent as they may be available, though not to any fixed number. At the end of 1945, for example, some 400 cases were accommodated in this way.
