asked the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the shortage of nurses, and the opportunity for recruiting women now being released from the Services and munitions, he will arrange for a mobile nursing exhibition to visit provincial towns.

Mr. Ness Edwards

A series of nursing exhibitions in provincial towns has begun and my right hon. Friend hopes to supplement these by a travelling exhibition van to visit districts where a large exhibition would not be practicable.

Miss Bacon

Is the Minister aware that improvements in working conditions and rates of pay would be much more effective than a mobile exhibition?

Mr. Edwards

That matter is under examination by the National Council of Nursing and the Department continuously, and improvements are being made in general ways.
