HC Deb 18 March 1946 vol 420 c1531
68. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Minister of Agriculture what is the present approximate annual value of vegetables sold off allotments in this country; and what steps are being taken to encourage allotment holders to grow for sale as well as for their own use by removing existing restrictions.

Mr. T. Williams

I regret that the information requested in the first part of the question is not available. So far as the Allotments Acts are concerned, I do not consider that such restrictions as there are on the sale of produce seriously interfere with food production, and I would not feel justified in taking action to remove them.
