HC Deb 14 March 1946 vol 420 c1269
22. Mr. Shurmer

asked the Minister of Pensions if he is aware that pensioners are experiencing inconvenience owing to delay in the return of artificial limbs sent to Roehampton for repair; and if he will look into the matter and do all possible to speed up repairs as men are often prevented from working as a result of these delays.

Mr. Wilfred Paling

There has been some delay in the artificial limb making industry due, in the main, to an unavoidable shortage of skilled staff and premises, but as the result of action I have already taken with the co-operation of Ministry contractors I am glad to say that continuing improvement is being secured.
