§ The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (Mr. Ernest Bevin)I have been asked to make a statement regarding Persia. The Soviet Government have not yet replied to the note addressed to them on 3rd March by His Majesty's Government on the subject of the non-withdrawal of Soviet troops from Northern Persia. I have instructed His Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires at Moscow to ask M. Molotov for an early reply. I have not yet received it. I should still prefer not to make a statement at this stage.
