HC Deb 12 March 1946 vol 420 c955
The Lord President of the Council (Mr. Herbert Morrison)

The Government has considered the reports from the Select Committee on Elections, and, as recommended by the Committee, they propose to introduce forthwith a Bill to validate the elections of the hon. Members for East Nottingham (Mr. Harrison), North-West Camberwell (Mrs. Corbet) and Bristol Central (Mr. . Awbery). The Committee are satisfied that in each case the disqualification arose purely from inadvertence, combined with the difficulty of interpreting and applying the existing law, and we hope that the House will agree to the early passage of the Bill through all its stages, in order that the hon. Members concerned may resume their Parliamentary duties as soon as possible.
