§ 63. Mr. Channonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he is aware of the grievances of the staff of Accountant and Comptroller-General's Office of the Customs and Excise Department on account of their continued retention in Blackpool; and whether, in view of this and the desirability of having the maximum accommodation in Blackpool available for holiday makers at the earliest opportunity, he will arrange for the return of this office to their normal headquarters at the earliest opportunity
§ Mr. DaltonThis case is being considered, but there is a very serious shortage of accommodation in London.
§ Wing-Commander Roland RobinsonIn view of the need for permanent all-the-year-round employment in Blackpool will the right hon. Gentleman consider the policy of retaining Government Departments there? And at the same time will he remember the necessity of providing permanent accommodation for them instead of requisitioning holiday accommodation?
§ Mr. DaltonI shall be glad to look into that possibility.
