HC Deb 12 March 1946 vol 420 cc924-5
5. Mr. Edelman

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he will prevent the dispossession of miners from houses tied to collieries when such miners have developed incurable industrial diseases which render them unfit for work, as in the case of Mr. James Kelly, of Binley Colliery, Coventry, particulars of whom have been sent to him.

Mr. Shinwell

I have no power to interfere with the exercise of contractual rights affecting the tenancy of colliery houses. I am, however, looking into the particular case referred to and will write to my hon. Friend about it.
