Captain SwingierWill the Minister state whether it is a fact that several Government Departments have been circularised inviting applications for transfer, and will he offer the same opportunities to local government officers as are offered to civil servants of other Government Departments?
§ Mr. GriffithsThe circular in question was issued to Government Departments to find out whether we could arrange for the members of the staff evacuated to Liverpool and Blackpool, who have been there for six years, to return to London. That is a transfer from one Department to another and does not mean a new and increased staff.
