asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when the last Report of the Prison Commissioners was issued; and when the next Report will be published.

Mr. Ede

The annual publication of these reports was suspended during the war, and the last published report is for the year 1938. It is proposed to publish a report, covering the years 1939 to 1944, in two parts, of which the first part, for the years 1939 to 1941, is now being printed and it is hoped will be published within the next two months.

Could the Home Secretary tell me approximately when the second part is expected, because of the vital statistics that are in it?

Mr. Ede

No, Sir; I think we had better get the first part out first.
