HC Deb 04 March 1946 vol 420 c9
24. Mr. Carson

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether in view of the fact that large scale air reconnaissance has ceased, he will consider allocating a more generous supply of films for private cameras than hitherto.

Sir S. Cripps

Since 1st February, there has been no statutory restriction on supplies of films. The change from bulk production for war purposes to civilian production necessarily takes time. The present output is required to meet demands for industrial, medical and export purposes, as well as by private users.

Mr. Carson

Does that answer mean that there will be an increased allocation in the shops in the reasonably near future?

Sir S. Cripps

I hope so.
