HC Deb 05 June 1946 vol 423 cc1979-80
19. Air-Commodore Harvey

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation if the minutes of -the Provisional International Civil Aviation Organisation discussions may be circulated to the Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators and the British Air Line Pilots Association in advance; and if he will strengthen the British team attending the Provisional International Civil Aviation Organisation.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation (Mr. Ivor Thomas)

When the minutes of the First Interim Assembly of the Provisional International Civil Aviation Organisation are released for publication relevant parts will be sent to the Guild of Air Pilots and the British Air Line Pilots Association. As far as is possible these bodies will be consulted on technical matters with which they are concerned before these are discussed by committees and divisions of the Organisation.

As regards the second part of the Question, my noble Friend is satisfied with the current arrangements for United Kingdom participation in the normal activities of the Provisional International Civil Aviation Organisation, as also for the attendance of a special United Kingdom delegation at the interim assembly now being held in Montreal.

Air-Commodore Harvey

Whilst thanking the Minister for the first part of his reply, may I ask if he is aware of the general dissatisfaction with the strength of the British team in Canada and will he see that we have a stronger man at the head of the team and that its numbers are increased?

Mr. Thomas

I am prepared to read out to the House a list of the delegates so that hon. Members can judge for themselves: Sir Donald Banks, K.C.B., D.S.O., M.C., leader of the delegation; Air Chief Marshal Sir Frederick Bowhill, G.B.E., K.C.B.; Mr. H. G. Vincent, C.B., C.V.O.; Air Vice-Marshal A. C. Collier, C.B., C.B.E.; Mr. L. J. Dunnett.
