HC Deb 05 June 1946 vol 423 cc1972-3
6. Mr. Osborne

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air if he is aware that the North Cotes aerodrome, Lincolnshire, is not in commission; and whether the 40 married quarters, plus the officers' married quarters which are brick structures, can be made available to the local authorities for civilian use.

Mr. de Freitas

This station is not now being used for flying and most of the married quarters are, therefore, empty. We intend to use them to house Service families of members of the Royal Air Force who are serving elsewhere, mostly overseas; if we find that the accommodation is not all taken up in this way, we will certainly consider offering it to the local authorities.

Mr. Osborne

In view of the fact that these married quarters have been empty for a considerable time, would the hon. Gentleman hasten his decision so that married people may use them?

Mr. de Freitas

Yes, Sir.
