HC Deb 05 June 1946 vol 423 cc2004-5
73. Mr. Touche

asked the Minister of Food whether, in view of the difficulty of smaller households in surrendering 16 points for canned meat, he will consider the possibility of arranging half-size packs for which eight points could be surrendered.

Mr. Strachey

I assume the hon. Member refers to stewed steak, which is sold in lib. cans at 16 points each. This commodity is imported, and it is unfortunately not possible to obtain half-size packs to be sold at eight points each. There are, however, fair quantities of slicing meats and in addition the ready-meal pack, which is only two points per 1b.
