§ 60. Mr. Osborneasked the Minister of Food if he is aware that bakers in certain Leicestershire villages have been selling as many as 50 loaves of bread a day to German prisoners of war; what has been the results of the police investigation in this case; and have other food supplies been sold in large quantities to these German prisoners.
§ Mr. StracheyA baker selling bread to prisoners of war would be guilty of an infringement of a Prisoners of War Order of 1940. Prosecution for breaches of it would fall to the police and not to my Department.
§ Mr. OsborneHas the Minister any information to give on the investigations that have been taking place in this case?
§ Mr. StracheyThat is a matter for the police, not for my Department.
