§ 49. Mr. Byersasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster by what date the available wheat stocks in Germany will be exhausted; and by what date the first consignment of the promised 200,000 tons of wheat is due to arrive.
§ Mr. J. HyndI can reply only for the British zone of Germany. Stocks in that zone had fallen to a dangerously low level but administrative measures, taken in accordance with the recent Washington Agreements, have prevented their complete exhaustion. It is hoped that shipments under the programme for May to September, which aims at a total import of 675,000 tons will now be arriving with sufficient regularity to maintain at least the existing low ration scales.
