§ 26. Commander Purseyasked the Minister of Fuel and Power the amount of domestic coal supplied to Hull in the four weeks ended 25th May; what percentage this amount was of the full allocation to the City; and what percentage of their allocation was supplied, respectively, to the Co-operative Society, Risdale & Walkers, and the other merchants.
§ Mr. GaitskellThe amount of house coal supplied during the four weeks ended 25th May to the Hull district, which includes some areas outside the city, was 19,667 tons, this being 102.8 per cent. of the allocation. The receipts of the Hull 1793 Co-operative Society, Messrs. Ridsdale and Walker, Limited, and other merchants were, respectively, 102.2, no.3 and 102.5 Per cent- of their allocations.
§ Commander PurseyWill my hon. Friend say why the district house coal officer in Hull refused to give to the merchants there information about monthly supplies, which is their only check against maldistribution? Seeing that the security reasons previously given no longer exist, why should not this information be given to the trade?
§ Mr. GaitskellI would be happy to look into that matter, and communicate with my hon. and gallant Friend.
