HC Deb 31 July 1946 vol 426 c929
13. Mr. McKie

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation if he is now in a position to state whether it is intended to use Loch Ryan, Wigtownshire, as a flying-boat base.

Mr. Ivor Thomas

The position is as stated in my reply to the hon. Member on 17th July last.

Sir Wavell Wakefield

Could we know what that reply was?

Mr. Thomas

The reply was that we must await the consultations with other Departments which are now proceeding.

Mr. McKie

May I ask the Parliamentary Secretary if he will bear very carefully in mind the anxiety which is being felt about the long time which is being taken to come to a decision? In view of the very vital part which Loch Ryan played in the war, will he give this matter serious consideration?
