HC Deb 24 July 1946 vol 426 cc23-4
39. Mr. Rees-Williams

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many State restaurants and Government shops have been opened in the Malaya Union and the colony of Singapore; and in what towns or villages.

Mr. George Hall

Some restaurants have been established for supplying cheap midday meals to the general public. Similar restaurants have been established in Government Departments and business premises. I am asking the Governors of the Malaya Union and Singapore for a report of the number of restaurants and I will write to the hon. Member when I receive it.
