§ 8. Mr. Osborneasked the Undersecretary of State for Air why no reply has been sent to an application for redress of grievance, dated 27th February, 1946, from 1438523 Sergeant F. A. Rogers who was parachuted behind the lines in the Balkans and also behind the Japanese lines in Malaya, for which he is entitled to back promoted pay which so far has been refused.
§ Mr. de FreitasI am grateful to the hon. Member for drawing my attention to this case, and I regret the delay in dealing with the airman's application. The inquiries I am making are not yet complete, but I will write to the hon. Member as soon as I can.
§ Mr. OsborneWill the Under-Secretary ginger up his Department so that these cases do not occur again? Will he bear in mind that delays make an airman's grievance almost worse?
§ Mr. de FreitasThis was a particularly complicated case, because the airman concerned had been working entirely with the Army. I will see that this does not happen again.
