HC Deb 24 July 1946 vol 426 cc16-7
20. Wing-Commander Roland Robinson

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation whether B.O.A.C. has now secured adequate accommodation for its Atlantic air services at La Guardia airport; and whether steps are being taken to secure such accommodation at Idlewild airport on its opening.

Mr. Ivor Thomas

As I informed the hon. and gallant Member for Central Glasgow (Colonel J. R. H. Hutchison) on 26th June last, La Guardia airfield is very congested. I am satisfied that the American authorities concerned are making all possible efforts to meet our requirements. The accommodation available to the British Overseas Airways Corporation is similar to that allotted to other operators using the airfield.

As regards the second part of the Question, negotiations are in progress for the provision of adequate accommodation when the Idlewild airfield comes into operation.
