HC Deb 16 July 1946 vol 425 cc1039-40
33. Sir T. Moore

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power how many gallons of petrol are still stored in underground tanks in Great Britain.

Mr. Shinwell

I regret that it would not be in the public interest to disclose the information asked for by the hon. and gallant Member.

Sir T. Moore

While not understanding this mystery which surrounds our peacetime petrol supplies, I reserve the right to ask further questions on this matter in future, subject to Mr. Speaker's agreement.

35. Sir T. Moore

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power how many gallons of petrol are sealed off in the petrol pumps of Britain; and for what purpose this petrol is being so retained.

Mr. Shinwell

So far as I am aware, there are no stocks of petrol sealed off in the petrol pumps of this country. However, if the hon. and gallant Member will give me any further information, I will look into the matter.
