§ 49. Mr. S. Shephardasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster the approximate stocks of bread grains in the British zone in Austria, other than those held by U.N.R.R.A; and the steps which have been taken to encourage food production.
§ Mr. J. HyndThere are no such stocks for Austrian consumption. To encourage indigenous food production, seeds, fertilisers, insecticides and veterinary supplies have been imported; the local production of agricultural machinery is being encouraged; the areas under bread grains and potatoes have been increased; extra transport has been provided; improved methods of collecting farm produce have been recommended to the Austrian Government; allotment holdings have been developed in both town and country districts.
