HC Deb 28 February 1946 vol 419 cc2097-8
46. Sir R. Glyn

asked the Prime Minister whether he will reconsider the holding of victory parades throughout the country on the date proposed in view of the economic position and shortage of coal, especially affecting transport, and postpone such celebrations until after final peace negotiations have been completed and more stable conditions obtain.

The Prime Minister

The considerations to which the hon. and gallant Member refers were given full weight when the matter was under review. I believe that the decision which we reached commends itself to the people as much as it did to my colleagues and myself.
