§ 66. Mr. Lipsonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he is aware that while the foreign exchange in Italy is 900 lire to the pound for the Forces it is only 400 for merchant seamen; and as this is causing them great hardship will he arrange for the exchange to be 900 also for members of the merchant service.
§ Mr. DaltonYes, Sir, and I have taken steps to put merchant seamen on the same footing as regards the exchange rate, as members of the Forces.
§ Mr. LipsonMay I ask when that came into operation?
§ Mr. DaltonVery recently.
