HC Deb 27 February 1946 vol 419 cc1927-8
71. Mr. Watkins

asked the Minister of Food what arrangements are being made for the importation of the South African fruit crop.

Sir B. Smith

I regret that suitable shipping is not available for the importation this year of any substantial quantity of deciduous fruits from South Africa since other commodities requiring re- frigerated space have a higher priority. As regards the citrus fruit crop, however. I am about to open negotiations.
