HC Deb 27 February 1946 vol 419 c1889
1. Major Sir Basil Neven-Spence

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he will make arrangements for officers of the Mercantile Marine to be allowed to retain the prism binoculars and telescopes issued to them for their use during the war.

The First Lord of the Admiralty (Mr. A. V. Alexander)

Arrangements are being made to enable Merchant Navy officers to purchase binoculars which become surplus to naval requirements. These arrangements do not apply to telescopes, of which there are no surplus stocks.
