asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is now in a position to permit the purchase of uniforms for the various youth organisations without requiring coupons.

Sir S. Cripps

No, Sir. I regret that this is not possible.

Mr. Walker

Does not the right hon. Gentleman think that the granting of this small request would lead to considerable development in youth organisations and would that not contribute to a lessening of the amount of juvenile delinquency?

Sir S. Cripps

That might be so, but someone else would have to go without who might require the goods more.

Mr. George Wallace

Would the right hon. Gentleman consider allowing girls' organisations to have some sort of uniforms in order that the, might exercise their ingenuity in cutting down these garments for their own use?

That is another question.
