HC Deb 25 February 1946 vol 419 cc1547-8
37. Colonel J. R. H. Hutchison

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will take steps to restrict the importation of artificial flowers so long as the industry in this country is under restrictions which prevent it getting the necessary supplies of raw materials.

Sir S. Cripps

No imports of artificial flowers for retention on the home market are at present allowed.

Colonel Hutchison

Will the right hon. and learned Gentleman give an assurance that they will not be allowed so long as the industry at home cannot manufacture them?

Sir S. Cripps

I cannot give any assurance as to what may happen in the future, but I can assure him about the present position.
