HC Deb 20 February 1946 vol 419 c1140
33. Mr. John Lewis

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he is aware that newspapers despatched in December to men in the R.N. stationed in Singapore have not yet arrived, although the position in regard to letters is satisfactory; and if he will take steps to ensure that an improvement is effected in this position.

Mr. Alexander

The sea mail service to Singapore, by which newspapers are sent unless specially prepaid for carriage by air, is satisfactory. All mail despatched from the United Kingdom between 1st December and 24th December had arrived in Singapore by 8th February. If my hon. Friend has any particular case in mind, I shall be glad to look into it.
