HC Deb 20 February 1946 vol 419 c1141
35. Sir P. Macdonald

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the conditions of service, terms of gratuity, etc., of officers of the R.N. and R.N.V.R. who have volunteered to remain in the R.N. for mine-sweeping operations.

Mr. Alexander

No officers have been invited to volunteer for further service specifically for mine-sweeping operations.

Sir P. Macdonald

Is it not a fact that R.N.V.R. officers are serving in that capacity, and that they do not know what are the conditions of service and are very anxious to know?

Mr. Alexander

I must say they are not up to the usual level of naval officers if they have, not found out directly through their commanding officers. I am quite sure the information is available to them.
