§ 34. Colonel Wiggasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what the latest cost-of-living figures in Nigeria are; and 379 when a report on the inquiry into wages and cost of living which is taking place as a result of the strikes in Nigeria last year may be expected.
§ Mr. George HallThe latest figures available at the Colonial Office give the cost of living index for Lagos on 1st October, 1945, as 175.92 but I am asking the Governor to supply the latest figures. The Commissioner has completed his inquiry into the representations for an increased cost of living allowance in Nigeria and is due back in this country this week. I hope that his report will be available in the fairly near future.
