asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the present effective preference on light oils, manufactured in the United Kingdom from indigenous materials; and heavy oils so manufactured and used as road fuel in the United Kingdom; and for how long, and at what rate, the guaranteed preference will continue to operate.

Ninepence a gallon in both cases. A preference of 8d. a gallon is guaranteed until 1950, subject to the conditions set out in the First Schedule to the Finance Act, 1938.
