§ 17. Mr. Blackburnasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether his announcement in New York on 14th December, 1946, that the numbers of British troops have been reduced to 1,000,000 referred solely to British troops overseas.
Mr. McNeilWhile I have not yet received the verbatim text of my right hon. Friend's speech to the General Assembly on 14th December, it is clear from the context in which he spoke that he was referring to the fact that the numbers of British troops abroad have been reduced to well below one million.
