asked the Minister without Portfolio if he will arrange for all Service vehicles to carry number plates with not more than four figures, similar to those carried by private cars, so that the vehicles may be more easily identified in the event of an accident.

The Service Departments are still in process of reducing their large wartime holdings of vehicles, and it would, at present, be impracticable to carry out the hon. and gallant Member's suggestion, but my right hon. Friend will certainly consider its adoption when conditions revert to normal.
