HC Deb 04 December 1946 vol 431 c317
18. Mr. D. Marshall

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster how many deaths caused by lack of food and fuel there have been in the British zone of Germany during October, 1946.

Mr. J. Hynd

No deaths were reported in October as having resulted from lack of fuel. Eighty-five deaths were reported with oedema complications attributed by German doctors to lack of food. Organic disease was present in many of these cases.
