HC Deb 02 December 1946 vol 431 c24
76. Sir Robert Young

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that a claim for compensation was made to the Corporation of Trinity House, on 17th July, on behalf of the widow and children of Thomas James Morris; that since then many communications have passed between the corporation and the solicitors of the Amalgamated Engineering Union in which it is said that the matter has been referred to his Department where the delay of settling the claim is held up; and if he will immediately see that the long period of consideration is brought to an end.

Mr. Barnes

This matter was brought to the attention of my Department, on 9th November. I am glad to inform the hon. Member that the Corporation of Trinity House has been authorised to pay the widow the maximum compensation payable under the Workmen's Compensation Acts.
