HC Deb 02 December 1946 vol 431 cc24-5
45. Mr. Geoffrey Cooper

asked the Prime Minister if he will consider setting up a Royal Commission or Select Committee to investigate the demands of the Services for training areas in Great Britain and, in the meantime, undertake to have published the evidence being taken at the present time by the Inter-Departmental Committee set up to investigate this matter.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

On the question of a Royal Commission, or Select Committee, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given on 28th November, to the hon. Member for Denbigh (Sir H. Morris-Jones), of which I am sending my hon. Friend a copy. As regards the second part of the Question, I will arrange for copies of the representations made to His Majesty's Government by interested bodies or persons through the medium of this Committee to be placed in the Library.

Mr. Cooper

Will my right hon. Friend also consider making available the evidence given by this Committee to the public at large, because the public are very interested in this matter?

The Prime Minister

I will look into that, but I do not think it is possible.
