HC Deb 02 December 1946 vol 431 c33
87. Lieut.-Commander Gurney Braithwaite

asked the Minister of Works when the indicator will be reinstalled in the Harcourt Room.

Mr. Tomlinson

The temporary system which was installed to replace the one destroyed by bombing is not capable of operating any more annunciators. A larger system will be provided for the new Chamber. I am looking into the possibility of enlarging the present system meanwhile.

Lieut.-Commander Braithwaite

In the meantime could the annunciator at present installed above the tape machine in the Library corridor, which is an innovation, be transferred to the Harcourt Room, where it would be of great advantage?

Mr. Tomlinson

I will note that and I will look into the possibilities of it.

Mr. Godfrey Nicholson

Is the Minister aware that the more intellectual Members of the House play chess and that there is no annunciator in the chess room?

Mr. Tomlinson

I find it impossible to get a machine to put one annunciator in all the places where Members are engaged from time to time
