§ 52. Mr. Cooper-Key
asked the Minister of Labour whether he has investigated the complaint, to which his attention has already been drawn, that young men conscripted into a mine in the Durham area are being intimidated into joining the 2888 Durham Miners' Association; whether there is any compulsion for such conscripts to join a trades union; and whether he will take steps to protect these young men from intimidation.
§ Mr. Ness Edwards
My right hon. Friend the Minister of Fuel and Power has undertaken to make inquiries into this case and to write direct to the hon. 2889 Member. With regard to the second and third parts of the Question, I would refer the hon Member to the reply given on 7th March to the hon. and gallant Member for East Renfrew (Major Lloyd).
