HC Deb 11 April 1946 vol 421 c2075
27. Mr. Walker

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will consider the desirability of legislation continuing Summer Time during the Winter months.

Mr. Ede

In present circumstances I cannot say more than that I have noted my hon. Friend's view.

Mr. Walker

Would the right hon. Gentleman consider sympathetically the position of school children—especially in the country districts—who are not able to reach home before darkness in the winter months?

Mr. Ede

I have to consider that and a number of other matters, including the case of those who have to go to work and possibly to school in the dark in the morning if the alteration is made.
