HC Deb 11 April 1946 vol 421 cc2080-1
39. Mr. Beswick

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he is yet in a position to give details of the seven occasions, between 1930 and 1942, on which his medical officers examined Mr. F. Lawton with reference to the claim of which he has been informed

Mr. Wilfred Paling

Medical examinations were carried out on nine occasions between 1930 and 1942, the dates being 2nd March, 1931; 23rd January. 9th and 27th February, 1934; 21st March, 15th October, 29th November, 7th and 29th December, 1938.

Mr. Beswick

While thanking my right hon. Friend for the time which he has recently devoted to this claim, I would like to ask him whether he is aware that on only one of the dates that he has mentioned was the man examined with reference to the claim of which I informed my right hon. Friend?

Mr. Paling

I am not quite sure to what matter my hon. Friend is referring. The man in question had a full medical board in 1931 to determine whether he was due for pension. On the other occasions he came before our own medical man.
