§ 43. Earl Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what acknowledgement has been sent to the people of Northern Rhodesia for their munificent gift of food to this country.
§ The Secretary of State for the Conies (Mr. George Hall)I sent a message in January to the Governor of Northern Rhodesia expressing the deer appreciation felt in this country for the proposal of the people of Northern Rhodesia to raise £20,000 for the purchase of food for Great Britain. The fund is expected to close this month; and on receipt of this generous gift a further expression of thanks will be sent.
§ Earl WintertonWould the right hon. Gentleman consider, in all these cases where Colonies and territories give food to this country, issuing a statement to the Press thanking them, in view of the fact that no information about this particular gift has been published in any of the English newspapers?
