HC Deb 10 April 1946 vol 421 c1930
73. Sir D. Robertson

asked the Minister of Food what quantities of New Zealand butter and cheese he intends to import during the next six months; and whether that amount represents New Zealand's exportable surplus for Britain.

Sir B. Smith

Under existing arrangements my Department purchases the exportable surpluses of New Zealand butter and cheese until July, 1948. I am importing the maximum quantities of both commodities in the next six months, although the actual amount will depend on production in New Zealand. Apart from insignificant quantities to Eastern territories, the total exportable surplus will come to the United Kingdom.
