§ 48. Mr. Pickthornasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether he is aware that U.N.R.R.A. food parcels in Poland are issued disproportionately to officials and Communists, and that British ex-prisoners of war on No. I ration scale, and therefore entitled to such parcels, have been charged as much a,; 332 zloty per parcel; and if U.N.R.R.A. is taking steps to see that these parcels are properly distributed.
Mr. McNeilI have been asked to reply. I have no information leading me to conclude that there is such discrimination as the hon. Gentleman alleges. U.N.R.R.A. are concerned to see that no such discrimination takes place. If however, the hon. Gentleman will supply the information upon which his Question is based, I will see that it is examined by U.N.R.R.A.
§ Mr. PickthornMay I ask the Minister to reply to the second part of my Ques- 1646 tion—whether there is any information at the Foreign Office about the charges and demands for payment on U.N.R.R.A. parcels, and whether he has consulted the U.N.R.R.A. office in London before giving me this answer?
Mr. McNeilNaturally, all relevant inquiries were made. My Office has no information which leads us to believe that there is discrimination in this matter.
§ Mr. PickthornThe second half of my Question was concerned with prices and not discrimination.
§ Sir W. SmithersMay we have the English equivalent of 332 zloty?
